Kohn describes intrinsic motivation by stating that when children are invited to ask questions, it inspires them to find answers which leads to enthusiasm. In this process, as the students are asking and answering their questions, teachers are able to encourage and aid in finding what the students are interested in. Duckworth claims, "b y inviting their questions, we unleash the power of intrinsic motivation because all of us tend to develop more enthusiasm for, and ultimately become more skillful at, pursuing questions about which we’re genuinely curious than those handed to us by someone else." ( Whose Asking, par. 2) Through this quotation it is clear that with intrinsic motivation comes a student and teacher participation. In order to be inspired, it is essential that the student is always thinking of ways to question in order to in turn, find the answer to their curiosity. I value this picture because I love my parents. This was taken when we were all much younger (obviously lol) but I think it captures my parents personalities very well. My mom is a very happy outgoing woman and my dad is more kept to himself, he's a very intimidating guy. This last week I have done a really bad job with time management. I have been falling behind in my math assignments. I have also been struggling a little with this essay, It's been my most difficult write this year so far. I need to set more time aside to work on it and really put in a good effort to perfect it. I feel my rough draft is just that, rough. Besides my poor time management I have done a pretty good job with the workshops, so far I have only missed two. We do 5am workouts so I really struggle with getting up on time to get to the workshops, but I find them to be helpful for the most part so I will definitely be attending the required amount to receive full credit. I felt the Call to Action day was kind of eh. All I had to do was make goody bags for the elementary students that came down to visit us, during the actual activities I found myself to be useless and extremely bored because I had already completed my job.
